As working parents involved in the Dublin Latchkey organization, we found ourselves frustrated with the existing preschool model. This led us to create a program that offers affordable childcare options tailored to fit your family's needs, including those in the Jerome area and beyond, as we aim to establish strong educational Origins for our children.

The mission of Origins School of Learning is to provide a high-quality preschool program that is both affordable and flexible, designed to meet the needs of children and families in the community. We aim to ensure that the children in Jerome and the surrounding areas have access to safe childcare, fostering an educational environment that offers developmentally appropriate activities for learning and growth.

In a HighScope preschool program, teachers ignite children’s interest in learning by creating an environment that encourages them to explore learning materials and interact with adults and peers. Our childcare approach focuses on supporting early learners in Dublin, including those who may benefit from the Dublin latchkey program, as they make decisions, build academic skills, and develop socially and emotionally. This fosters a sense of community in the classroom, aligning with the origins of our educational philosophy, as children grow and thrive in their preschool environment.

At Origins School of Learning, we believe that early childhood education and experience should focus on the development of the whole child. This encompasses the 5 Domains of Early Childhood Development, including Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Physical, and Language, along with essential life skills and self-esteem. We nurture these areas through our Highscope Curriculum and Ohio Early Learning Standards, ensuring a high-quality learning program. Our offerings are designed to be affordable and flexible for families in the Dublin area, including those in Jerome seeking quality childcare and preschool options.

Hello, my name is Colleen Silva. I have been married for nearly 37 years. I attended Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, Virginia, when my husband was active duty in the Navy. I was a preschool teacher assistant for four years while living there. After he retired in 2006, he traded his US Navy Wings for NetJets Wings, and life has been a whirlwind ever since. I have a 25-year-old daughter, a 31-year-old son, and an 11-year-old grandson. After working for 12 years with Dublin schools' lunch program, I left in 2021 and joined Dublin Latchkey in 2022, and then Origins in 2023. I love working in childcare for many reasons; children make me laugh, they are so fun to watch blossom, and they remind me not to take life too seriously! I look forward to returning to Origins, seeing returning students, families, and staff, as well as getting to know new ones in Jerome. Here’s to a great 2024-25 school year!

After teaching high school math for five years in India, my family and I moved to Dublin, Ohio in 2010, and we've loved calling this vibrant community home ever since. We particularly appreciate the local childcare options, including the Dublin Latchkey program, which has been a great resource for families in the area. I've been married for 25 years and have two wonderful children who have enjoyed their time at local schools, including those in Jerome. In my free time, I like to read books, travel, and spend time with my family. Teaching has always been my passion, especially in nurturing young minds at the preschool level. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a child's face light up as they grasp a new concept. Working with children keeps me feeling young and energetic, too!

We take all students ages 3 to 6. Although our curriculum is geared towards preschool. Students will need to be at least 3 years old by the first day of school.
Our organization has been operating in Dublin City Schools as the before and after care program for 42 years and Jonathan Alder for 8 years. This is a new concept we have developed due to the lack of affordable and flexible options in our area. We are starting small with only two classrooms. Once enrollment is complete we will divide the students by age and developmental stage.
Since we are renting space at Jerome Church, we will not be able to set up the classrooms until this summer. However, the classrooms are designed for Sunday school and have a good foundation to build from.
Due to licensing and the health department, we will ask that parents provide their child's snacks and lunch.
No religion affiliation, we are an independent non-profit.
Knowing many of our family’s already have children in our elementary program, and to keep cost down to a minimum and affordable, we decided to follow the DCS calendar. However, we might have days you can add on to during those breaks if needed. At this point we will break for the summer; however, there are many summer camps for 3 year olds and up. Dublin parks and rec, Dublin Community preschool and Integrity are just a few.
It is a licensing rule to provide nap time or quiet time. We understand that this can be difficult for some children, we plan to separate our nappers from our quiet time activity kids. For those students who will be with us for a majority of the day, we will have our nap time in the afternoon.
Students will need to be potty-trained, but we do understand that there will be accidents from time to time.
Your tuition will count for the tax credit and/or dependent child care fsa.
